For Meah, choosing CCBC was about more than proximity or affordability—it was about finding a community that would support her ambitions in the health care field. Coming from St. Thomas, Meah knew her educational path might include unique challenges, but has found all the resources she needs to stay on track.
“The college’s commitment to supporting its students is evident in everything it does, from food pantries and free tuition to state-of-the-art gyms and dedicated success navigators,” Meah shared.
While she has always wanted to work in health care, she only recently discovered her passion for anesthesiology. “The opportunity to combine technical expertise with patient care is what draws me to this work,” Meah explained.
“My ultimate goal is to earn a Ph.D. in anesthesiology,” she shared. “I know that the hands-on experience and networking opportunities I'll gain at CCBC will be invaluable in helping me achieve that.”
While her goal is clear, her journey hasn’t been without obstacles. Due to the high cost of education, Meah took a year off from her studies, but CCBC's affordability and scholarships, like Baltimore College Promise, have served as a “lifeline” enabling her to keep moving toward her dreams.
Thanks to CCBC's scholarships and commitment to low-cost tuition, I can focus my energy on being the best student I can be, rather than constantly worrying about how I'll pay for my education.
Meah has also been able to take full advantage of leadership roles, like her position as vice president of Service for Phi Theta Kappa. She has also taken classes in biology and chemistry, which will put her on the path to earning her bachelor’s degree.
For students like Meah, CCBC is not just a college—it’s a launchpad for their future.
Meah is one of CCBC’s 2024-2025 Fresh Faces student representatives.
