Hannah Jeremiah completed high school in her home country of Nigeria before moving to the U.S. The transition to a new education system was challenging, and she initially felt discouraged. However, that changed when she discovered CCBC.
“I had friends attending CCBC who spoke highly of it,” Hannah said. “At CCBC, things really started to come together and make sense.”
She quickly found a sense of belonging among fellow international students and built connections through student activities, peer friendships, and supportive faculty. From her first inquiry call, CCBC staff made her feel welcome, and this supportive environment continued throughout her education.
At a CCBC open house, she learned about the Degrees to Succeed program, which allows students to be dually admitted at CCBC and a four-year university. The program offers automatic acceptance, waived application fees, scholarships and dual advising.
“I joined the next day,” Hannah said. “I felt so supported throughout. Both schools were incredibly responsive.”
After earning her associate degree in business administration, she seamlessly transferred to University of Baltimore (UBalt) where she will earn a bachelor’s degree in business.
“I never had to wonder how to apply or where to go—it was all laid out for me,” she said.
Jeremiah has the added benefit of already feeling connected to her new school. During her time at CCBC, she balanced work, student clubs and leadership roles, forming lasting friendships. Many of her CCBC peers are also continuing at UBalt through Degrees to Succeed, ensuring a strong support network.
“I’m going in prepared,” she said confidently. “I’m excited for what’s next.”
