During her junior year of high school, Gillian Holland enrolled at CCBC, taking advantage of the Early College Access Program. She was able to graduate high school a full year early with 27 college credits. Thanks to the Baltimore County College Promise scholarship, Gillian attends CCBC full-time without the cost of tuition and fees.
“The College Promise scholarship allows me to complete my associate degree at CCBC without the cost of tuition and fees being a burden,” said Gillian, a General Studies major. “I can focus on my education and not how I’m going to pay for it.”
Because she was a dual enrollment student with qualifying grades (a cumulative CCBC GPA of 3.0 or higher), Gillian earned the distinction of being named a Presidential Scholar in the inaugural class of CCBC Presidential Scholars. Gillian also plays on the CCBC women’s lacrosse team, is enrolled in the Honors program and is a member of the Student Government Association, Green Club and represents the college as a member of the CCBC Fresh Faces team.
“Being involved in a wide variety of activities connected me with other CCBC students and professors who are here to help me make my CCBC experience the best it can be,” she said.
I have made forever friends, and I am surrounded by people who want to see me succeed.
After graduating from CCBC, Gillian plans to narrow down her major, transfer to a four-year university to finish her bachelor’s degree and eventually earn her master’s and doctorate.
