After graduating from high school, Branden Burrows knew he needed time to decide on his future career path. In 2022, he enrolled at CCBC and eventually chose a Communication and Media Studies major.
“I wanted to develop my critical thinking and communication skills, which I believe are essential for success in any workplace,” said Burrows. “I am confident this major will provide me with the skills and knowledge necessary for my future career and personal growth."
CCBC is a great way to start your college journey!
During his time at CCBC, Burrows has been impressed with the faculty and the support that he has received, and he said they have had a positive impact on his academic performance.
“The faculty at CCBC is more than just a group of teachers. They are a family,” he said. “Every teacher I have encountered has treated me with respect, honesty and trust. Without their guidance, mentorship and challenges, I wouldn't have achieved or joined the programs that I am currently involved in. They have helped me become the best student that I can be.”
Burrows is a member of the Male Student Success Initiative, Black Student Union, and the International Club. He is also on the Leadership board of the Student Honors Council, public relations officer for Phi Theta Kappa, Student Ambassador for Student Engagement, president of the Photography Club and one of CCBC’s Fresh Faces student ambassadors.
“Being part of these clubs has helped me tremendously in building connections and shaping my character over the past couple of years,” said Burrows. “I enjoy getting involved and staying active on campus as it gives me a chance to make a positive impact and stay up to date with the latest developments.”
After graduating from CCBC with his associate degree, Burrows plans to search for a job in communications and transfer to a four-year university to obtain his bachelor's degree.
