Some of the best students in America pursue 64 undergraduate majors, 46 master’s programs and four doctoral degree programs at Towson University. Founded in 1866 as a teacher’s college, today's students can also study majors like business administration, psychology, mass communications and nursing. TU's educational experience also branches out to off-campus locations throughout Maryland and a number of online options.

General transfer information

A maximum of 45 units for non-traditional learning may be granted through the Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) Program (this includes any Advance Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) credit granted upon admission to the university). CPL units can be used to fulfill Core Curriculum, electives and/or major requirements. Courses completed at CCBC with 300 or 400 level TU course equivalencies will transfer as lower-level credit but will satisfy course content as indicated.

Students intending to transfer should complete the admission application for TU following the third semester of their associate degree program.

Degrees to Succeed

Complete your associate degree at CCBC and transfer your credits seamlessly to earn your bachelor’s degree at TU through the Degrees to Succeed program.

Degrees to Succeed

  • Dual admission to CCBC and TU*. 
  • Co-advising by TU to ensure CCBC courses align with your chosen program. 
  • Participants will receive a Degrees to Succeed ID card and will have access to select student activities, sports events and arts/culture programs.
  • Acceptance of 60-64 transfer credits from Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) degree programs.  
  • Junior standing after transfer and earlier registration, along with all Towson students with junior status. 
  • Eligible to compete for renewable $1,000 transfer scholarships from TU. No additional scholarship application is required.
  • Automatic membership in the TU Transfer Mentor Program.
  • Waiver of TU $45 application fee. 

*Admission into Towson does not guarantee admission to screened majors that require a separate application process and may require additional pre-requisite courses.

  • Earned high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Enrolled in an associate degree program at CCBC.
  • Be enrolled in the Degrees to Succeed Program within the first year at CCBC or prior to earning 30 credits (including credits earned through transfer, prior learning or high school/dual enrollment).
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

  2. Submit the acknowledgement form, which outlines the student checklist, program requirements, and permission to share your academic information with TU.
  3. CCBC will contact TU and share your interest in Degrees to Succeed.
