Health Informatics and Information Technology

The Health Informatics and Information Technology (HIIT) A.A.S. degree program prepares students for a challenging career path that combines health care and information technology. Students take courses in health records, medical coding, reimbursement and health data analysis combined with a strong technology core.

CCBC's HIIT program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) in cooperation with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national certifying RHIT examination administered by AHIMA.

Successful completion of the program awards an A.A.S. degree. Graduates can choose from a variety of work settings across an array of health care environments in roles as health information technicians, clinical documentation specialist, compliance managers, quality assurance officers and health data analysts.

The Health Informatics and Information Technology accreditor of the Community College of Baltimore County is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The College’s accreditation for the Associate degree in Health Informatics and Information Technology has been reaffirmed through 2024.
