This course is designed to enable the student to learn the theory of heat transfer as applied to refrigeration processes. Topics to be covered include the compression refrigeration cycle; the common types of refrigerants and their usage in applications; system performance; regulations and procedures for refrigerant recovery, recycling, and reclaiming; and tools and equipment to perform service and installation procedures, such as recovery, evacuating, charging, and leak detection. Course Objectives:1. demonstrate an understanding of the compression refrigeration cycle;2. identify mechanical and electrical components of refrigeration systems;3. perform various service procedures involving hand tools, equipment, and instruments; and4. demonstrate an understanding of the regulations, procedures, and equipment that apply to refrigerant recovery, reclaiming, and recycling that are set by the Environmental Protection Agency.
