This course is designed to enable the student who is a law enforcement officer to learn the principles and techniques of traffic accident investigations, using practical exercises that include using vehicles to simulate actual physical evidence and typical crash scenarios. Topics to be covered include time/ distance calculations, linear momentum formulae, speed estimates for vehicles, advanced scale diagramming, physical evidence from the roadway, occupant kinematics, lamp and tire examinations, pedestrian, motorcycle, and commercial vehicle dynamics, and vector diagramming.
