Introduces the student to the history, roles, and responsibilities of the surgical technologist. Students learn about communication in the surgical setting, professional law and ethics, disaster preparedness, operating room design, and ancillary services that support the surgical patient. Course offered once a year (fall or spring).

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Surgical Technology program.
