This course is designed to enable the student to learn and to be certified in the proper use of the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) System. This hands-on course is mandatory for those students required to perform stolen/wanted checks and background investigations via the electronic media (i.e. : computers/terminals). Each student will be afforded the opportunity to search actual and test (false) records. Topics to be covered include system security, validations, "hit" confirmation, off-line searches, basic messages/responses, actual access into the NCIC files (data bases).
