Introduces students to a variety of health care settings, including acute care, ambulatory care, long-term care, home health care, and hospice and emphasizes the role of the health information manager in each setting. Historical aspects of American health care in the twentieth century are presented. Topics such as services, staffing, regulatory issues, confidentiality, health care legislation, licensure and certification, quality improvement, utilization management, and risk management are covered. Course offered every fall, spring and may be offered during additional sessions.
Prerequisite(s): ESOL 052 and ESOL 054 or ACLT 052 or ACLT 053.
