17. 5 dual instrument instruction flight hours, 15 ground instruction hours, provides the initial phase of flight and simulator training toward the completion of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Instrument Pilot Rating, Airplane category. Topics include preflight preparation, air traffic control communication, flight by reference to instruments, navigation systems, instrument maneuvers, partial panel flying, and emergency procedures. A valid FAA Medical Certificate is required. Course offered every fall, spring and may be offered during additional sessions.

Prerequisite(s): AVMT 133 and approval of the Aviation Program Director. Corequisite(s): AVMT 231 and approval of the Aviation Program Director.
Lab Fee: $6,000.00.

    Note: NOTE: This is a flight training course. Students in this course will attend flight training 2-3 times per week at their approved Flight Training Center. Students must attend the Orientation on the first Monday of the semester, January 27, 9:00 AM - 11:55 AM, location will be announced via Brightspace 1/15/2024. Permission from the Aviation Department is required to register. This course has an additional lab fee, refer to the college catalog. NOTE: This course uses a FREE/LOW COST textbook.
