American Sign Language IV (ASLS 204)

Expands students' vocabulary, knowledge of ASL idioms and non-manual aspects of ASL. This course explores cross-cultural communication and applies cultural knowledge to discourse. Students explore linguistic structures of ASL and grammatical features for complex sentences, conversational skills and storytelling. Course offered every fall, spring and may be offered during additional sessions.

Prerequisite(s): ASLS 203 with a minimum grade of "C" or higher and ASLS 121.

    Note: NOTE: All new students with prior American Sign Language skills must be tested for appropriate placement by the department. Please contact the Interpreter Preparation Program Office at 443-840-4274 (v/tty) at least one month before the beginning of the semester to schedule an appointment. No transfer credits will be granted for any in-state sign language courses, nor will they satisfy the prerequisite requirement. Also, auditing the class does not meet the prequisites.
