Each service branch has its own application process, eligibility criteria, service obligations, and restrictions for using Tuition Assistance (TA) benefits. Service members should follow the specific guidelines for their branch and get approval from their Education Center before enrolling in classes. We recommend starting this process early—at least 60 days before the semester begins—since TA must be approved at least 7 days before classes start.
Once approved, email your TA Authorization Letter to veteranservices@ccbcmd.edu.
Important: Tuition Assistance covers tuition only, not fees.

For active duty service members and reservists temporarily unable to attend class, CCBC adheres to Volume 2, Chapter 3 of the Federal Student Aid Handbook. Contact Veterans Services or the Registrar’s Office to notify the college of your military service and your intention to return to school.
In accordance with Senate Bill 677, 15-106.10, Section 4, CCBC will extend a waiver of tuition and related fees for one course to parents or legal guardians of a deaf or hard of hearing child. The provision states the parent may take one course that teaches a language or communication at an institution of higher education and is exempt from paying tuition for the course.
To qualify, parents or guardians must submit the following:
- A copy of the audiogram or a letter from their audiologist confirming the dependent is deaf or hard of hearing
- A copy of the birth certificate listing the parent who wishes to enroll in the course or adoption records to verify guardianship
