Upward Bound

Supporting and empowering college-ready students in the Baltimore County region.

Upward Bound is a free, nationwide, pre-college program that enhances the academic and personal growth of first generation and/or low-income high school students.

A federally-funded TRIO program, Upward Bound is designed to help students with tutoring, counseling, mentoring, cultural enrichment, work-study programs and other resources.

Programming includes:

  • Financial aid workshops.
  • College preparation skills workshops.
  • Cross-curricular instruction.
  • Academy and career-based projects and lecture series.
  • Internships/externships shadowing.
  • Grade-level-specific seminars.
  • Early College Access planning and support.
  • Parent workshops.

Eligibility

Students must be enrolled in Baltimore County Public Schools as rising ninth-11th graders. Priority consideration is given to the following students:

  • Potential first-generation college student (neither parent has a bachelor's degree).
  • Those eligible for a Pell Grant or 150% of federal government poverty level.
  • Students with a documented physical, emotional and/or learning disability.

  • Students of Woodlawn, Lansdowne, Randallstown and Owings Mills High School,  Milford Mill Academy, and students residing in 21207, 21227 or 21244 should apply to CCBC Catonsville.

  • Students of Chesapeake, Dundalk, Kenwood, Overlea, Parkville or Patapsco High School should apply to CCBC Dundalk.
