This unique, hands-on experience provides valuable insights into day-to-day responsibilities, workplace dynamics and industry expectations. Job shadowing inspires our FSSI students to take actionable steps toward their career goals. Connect your academic knowledge to practical applications.

Dedicated Advisors

You will be paired with a dedicated academic advisor who you will meet with at least twice a year for academic support. These advisors will play a crucial role in ensuring that you have the resources and guidance you need to:

  • Develop a personalized plan that aligns your academic and career goals.
  • Understand institutional policies and procedures.
  • Navigate financial aid opportunities.

FSSI Scholars Program

In collaboration with CCBC’s Honors College, FSSI Scholars students obtain access to designated honors courses and activities, one-on-one transfer application assistance and even four-year college tours. Selected based on academic performance, these students also serve as a source of inspiration, contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within the Honors College.

College Prep

The transition from a community college to a four-year-institution isn't easy. It's especially hard for women of color who must overcome systematic barriers and societal expectations, which is why college preparation is a vital component of FSSI. You can confidently approach the college admissions process thanks to tailored application assistance.

Faculty Mentors

Faculty mentors will assist you in your long-term academic planning by helping you tackle coursework and academic challenges. These trained faculty members foster an environment where students are able to deepen their understanding with field insight and research opportunities.

Career Mentors

It's easier to build essential job skills with industry-specific knowledge. Our career mentors empower students with strategic advice for long-term success. From helping you lay the foundation to your career path to providing real-world wisdom, a career mentor will help you build a professional network.

Peer-to-Peer Mentors

Our peer-to-peer mentors come from a place of shared experience. These mentors, who have faced similar academic and personal challenges, offer guidance on managing tasks, outlining campus resources and balancing school-life responsibilities. They are approachable role models, providing practical advice and encouragement. This form of mentorship will not only help you feel more connected to the FSSI community, but it will empower you to continue succeeding in your academic and professional endeavors.
