As an Honors College student, you can apply for exclusive scholarships to help with the cost of your education.
Before applying for any additional scholarships, it’s important to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Completing the FAFSA will allow you to be considered for financial aid at CCBC as well as need-based scholarship or grant opportunities.
You can search for these opportunities in the Scholarships Library. To apply for a scholarship and/or grant, you’ll need to login with your CCBC credentials and complete the CCBC$Fund Me Application.
We’re here to help you prepare for the next step: transferring to a four-year college or university!
One of the great perks of being an honors student, is taking advantage of transfer partnerships upon completion of the Honors College Certificate. Terms of these partnerships vary but can include guaranteed admission, dual enrollment, admission to honors programs and discounts on tuition, fees or books.
While you’re at CCBC, you can work with transfer advising to map out your class schedule and meet requirements for your major and the Honors College Certificate. To get started, contact the Honors College.
With the Honors College, you can get involved in a wide range of research experiences throughout the year. Below are descriptions for the 2025 research experiences.
Summer experiences
Chesapeake Bay Experience: Explore estuarine science and conservation through hands-on research and travel along Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Examine biodiversity, water pollution, and climate change while collaborating with leading researchers in environmental science.
Voices of the Chesapeake: Investigate justice as a unifying force, blending virtual sessions and off-site trips around the Chesapeake region. Learn how historical and contemporary perspectives shape diverse communities, inspired by figures like Frederick Douglass.
Honors in Service: This community-based learning experience encourages students to think about the ways in which learning and service co-exist with academic content. We will be partnering with the community organization, Black Church Food Security Network (BCFSN), and exploring the ways that communities solve the issue of food security.
Place as Text: Great Lakes: Investigate environmental stewardship and urban revitalization in the Great Lakes region and Detroit, guided by University of Michigan and CCBC faculty. Through research, fieldwork, and community discussions, explore how water conservation, social justice, and economic transformation intersect.
Understanding Black Psychology: Examine the historical, theoretical, and modern dimensions of Black Psychology through lectures, discussions, and a museum field trip. Focus on identity development, racism’s psychological impacts, and culturally relevant therapies, culminating in a “One Page One Pen” project of actionable recommendations.
Digital Humanities in the Service of Community-Focused Storytelling: Experience a one-week residential program at the University of Maryland, delving into digital humanities and community-focused storytelling. Participate in field trips, hands-on projects, and collaboration with UMD faculty while exploring powerful ways to document local narratives.
Lead with Honor: Elevate your leadership abilities through a dynamic seminar centered on the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership. Engage in workshops, day trips, and team-building activities to sharpen both personal growth and professional skills.
Yearlong experience
Honors Scholars “Food for Thought:” This experience for a cohort of Honors Scholars centers on the cultural and social significance of food. Field trips include the Smithsonian American History Museum's FOOD: America’s Table exhibit, and the Hershey’s Chocolate Lab and Museum. Monthly meetings feature guest speakers like Yahoo food blogger Stephanie Smith and chocolate expert José Ganem, as well as discussions on Chesapeake Bay aquaculture and college student obesity research. The program culminates with a symposium featuring Krishnendu Ray and provides students with engaging experiences that blend history, culture and food studies.
