Collection of Personal Information
At CCBC, we work to responsibly handle and protect the personal data entrusted to us. Our data systems and mobile applications may contain personally identifiable information (PII) and sensitive information collected for admission, registration, gift and/or employment purposes. We seek to safeguard PII and sensitive information collected with access controls and through compliance with college policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and reasonable business practices. We will retain your personal data as is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as otherwise required or permitted by law.
CCBC has the right to collect personal and sensitive information from students and employees for educational and employment purposes and is the controller of all collected information in automated or manual formats (electronic and paper repositories). CCBC also collects personally identifiable and sensitive information regarding employees, retirees and their dependents, as applicable, for employment, administrative and benefit purposes.
Personal identifying information includes data that can be used on its own to trace or identify a person. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Name (in combination with other factors)
- Social Security number
- Tax identification numbers
- Date of birth
- Mother's maiden name
- Payroll information
- Passport information
- Biometric information
- Driver's license number, state identification card number, passport number or other individual identification number issued by a government agency
- Visitor location based on IP address
- Your internet accessible IP address
Sensitive information includes, but is not limited to, financial information (such as income sources, financial aid, payroll information and accounts) and health and benefit information.
CCBC does not sell or share nonpublic PII with third parties, unless necessary to complete a transaction in the ordinary course of business, or as allowed or required by state or federal law or regulations such as the Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA), Md. Code, Gen. Prov., § 4-101 et. seq., or the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 U.S.C. § 1232g and 34 CFR Part 99.
