Court Jesters Young People's Theatre presents Disney’s NEWSIES The Musical

Based on the Disney Film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White.


Court Jesters Young People's Theatre, the youth theatre arm of Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, in residence at CCBC Essex, will perform NEWSIES, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman and book by Harvey Fierstein, June 21– June 30. Performances will be held in the Administration Building Lecture Hall at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd.

Set in turn-of-the century New York City, NEWSIES is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged newspaper sellers known as “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right!

Directed by Liz Boyer Hunnicutt, Disney’s NEWSIES features Ethan Howard as Jack Kelly, Robbie Heer as Crutchie, Cormac O’Malley as Davey, Luke DiBello as Les, Reese Brunning as Katherine, Victor Scigala as Pulitzer, Emma Kessler as Medda Larkin, Owen Ryscavage as Race, Colton Roberts as Albert, Molly Foggo as Specs, Lily Anderson as Elmer, Noah Anderson as Finch, Josiah Johnson as Button, and Jayde Wild as Henry, as well as a full ensemble of local children ages 5-18.

Disney’s NEWSIES The Musical performances:

  • June 21 and 28 at 7 p.m.
  • June 22, 23, 29 and 30 at 1 p.m.
