The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has named Gamauri Spencer a recipient of the Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Spencer, a member of the CCBC Honors College and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, is a General Studies major at CCBC with a 3.9 GPA. Spencer plans to transfer to Goucher College and major in Psychology. They would like to ultimately attain a doctorate in the field.

The highly competitive national scholarship, given to only 60 community college students across the country, aims for scholars to complete their undergraduate educations with as little debt as possible. Spencer is the only scholarship recipient from Maryland. The award, which is last dollar funding after all institutional aid, can be as much as $55,000 a year toward tuition, living expenses, books and required fees. Additionally, Cooke Scholars are welcomed into the thriving Cooke community and network, receive comprehensive educational and career advising and are eligible for internship and graduate school funding from the Foundation.
