CCBC Vice President of Administrative Services Melissa Hopp earns Best in Finance award

Community College of Baltimore County is pleased to announce Melissa Hopp, vice president of Administrative Services, has been named one of 10 honorees for the 2023 Best in Finance: CFO Awards by the Baltimore Business Journal.

This award, which is given out every other year, seeks to recognize leaders who have demonstrated significant financial growth, overcome business challenges, shown team leadership and contributed to their communities, among other achievements. Hopp and her fellow honorees will be recognized at an event held on Oct. 10 at The Center Club.

A long history as a financial leader, Hopp has served for 35 years as a community college senior executive. She was named vice president of Administrative Services at CCBC in 2007. Previous positions include vice president for Administrative Services at Camden County College in southern New Jersey and vice president for Administrative Services at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois.

As the college’s Chief Financial Officer, Hopp is responsible for CCBC’s $285 million annual budget and leads over 400 full-time employees in collegewide support operations, including Information Technology, Facilities Management, Human Resources, Public Safety, Legal Affairs, Institutional Research, Auxiliary Services and Campus Operations. Under her leadership, the college has been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association for excellence in financial reporting throughout Hopp’s tenure.

Over the years, Hopp has actively served in state and regional professional organizations, including the role of president of the Maryland Association of Community College Business Officers. Previous association leadership positions include the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officials, the New Jersey County College Business Officers Association and the Illinois Community College Chief Financial Officers.

Hopp holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa and a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
