The CCBC Essex women’s basketball team had an incredible season, which included a 53-game winning streak -- breaking a record that has stood for 13 years. Surpassing Kirkwood Community College’s (Iowa) 2008-09 record of 39 straight wins, the Lady Knights hadn’t lost a game since their 2019 season until March 18 in the NJCAA DII Women’s Basketball National semi-final. They ended their season 35-1 and placed third in their division.

The Lady Knights have been led by Coach Mike Seney since 2019. In his first season at the helm, the Knights compiled a 30-2 record, including a season-high 19-game winning streak. Coach Seney has mentored three NJCAA Division I All-Americans, three Maryland Juco Players of the Year (2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19), 16 All-Maryland Juco team recipients, and helped guide 22 student-athletes to Division I or II institutions, most of whom received full scholarships.

More than half of the players on the current team’s roster have received scholarships to play on a higher level next season.
