Learning About College Administrative Operations
Search Specialists provide leadership to the various College search committees according to their interest and availability. In order to be designated as a Search Specialist, one must attend an experiential eight-hour session generally scheduled during the designated staff development period in August and January. Update and refresher courses are offered at other times throughout the year. Topics covered in the basic training are system search and selection procedures, defining the best qualified candidate through defensible criteria, resume review techniques, affirmative action and the advocacy role, developing rating instruments, interviewing questions, reference checking, decision making, documentation, candidate communication, and record-keeping.

The FY 2010 operating budget development workshops will be held at each campus during the month of September. The purpose of the workshops is to present the formulation process to organization managers. This includes a Power Point presentation detailing the budget process timeline, the budget development worksheet, the detailed budget justification schedule, and any other operational forms. The workshops are the ideal time for organizational managers to ask questions they may have concerning the budget development process.
