Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)


Question: Where do my Student Activities fees go?

Your Student Activities fees go toward a wide array of events and services for students. Examples include, but are not limited to, campus social events like the Welcome Back picnic, performers, speakers, and the college's student newspaper.

Question: Where is the CCBC shuttle pick-up? What are the times that it runs?

  • CCBC Catonsville: The shuttle runs Monday-Thursday 8am-3-pm and 5pm-11:30pm and on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The shuttle picks up from all the parking lots except for the Q parking lot and there are shuttle stops located throughout the campus.
  • CCBC Essex: The shuttle picks up in front of the A Building. The shuttle runs Monday – Friday, 8:00 am- 3:00 pm on the hour to and from the Dundalk campus.
  • CCBC Dundalk: The shuttle pickup is on the side building of A-building the shuttle runs 7:30-2:30 on every half of an hour from Dundalk

Question: Where can I purchase an MTA bus passes?

  • CCBC Catonsville: Bookstore, lower level of K-building.
  • CCBC Essex: Bookstore, B-Building 112
  • CCBC Dundalk: Bookstore K-115 building first floor

Question: What MTA buses come to campus?

  • CCBC Catonsville: Bus 77 in front of buildings R and G
  • CCBC Essex: Bus number 4 in front of the N Building and bus number 35. Bus numbers 4, 24, 35, 55 drop off and pick-up at Franklin Square Hospital.
  • CCBC Dundalk: The number 20 bus comes into the campus and the 4 goes to the outskirts of the campus.

Question: Where can I get a print-out of my class schedule?

You can print out a copy of your class schedule from your Simon account or go to:

  • CCBC Catonsville:Records and Registration in K-building room 206
  • CCBC Essex:A-building, Bursar’s Office, A-130 or A Building, Records & Registration Office, A-150
  • CCBC Dundalk: A-building, Records and Registration A-105, Bursar’s office A-104

Question: Where do I get a CCBC photo ID?

  • CCBC Catonsville: Office of Records and Registration K-Building room K-206
  • CCBC Essex: In the A-building, Records & Registration Office, roomA-150
  • CCBC Dundalk: In the A-building at the Office of Records and Registration, room A-105

Question: How do I get a locker on campus?

  • CCBC Catonsville:This campus does not have lockers
  • CCBC Essex: You rent a locker in the B-Building, B-116 for $5.00 per semester
  • CCBC Dundalk:You can rent lockers by coming to the Student life office in K-221 and sign up and pay $5.00 dollars for a locker

Question: Do you have information on housing?

Question: Where can I fax/copy?

  • CCBC Catonsville: You can make copies for 10 cents per page in the library.
  • CCBC Essex: Students can fax college related items in the Office of Student Life and copies can be made for 10 cents per page in the library.
  • CCBC Dundalk: You can fax or make limited copies in K-221 Student life office

Question: How do I start a new club?

  • CCBC Catonsville: Information to start a new club is available in the Office of Student Life, J-Building
  • CCBC Essex:Information to start a new club is available in the Office of Student Life, B-116.
  • CCBC Dundalk: Information about starting club is at Student life Office K-221

Question: When and where are the SGA meetings?

  • CCBC Catonsville:SGA meetings are held every other Tuesday from 2:30 to 4:30 in the F-building, room F-301
  • CCBC Essex: SGA meetings are held every other Monday at 12:20 pm and Tuesday at 2:30 pm every semester in the B Building conference room
  • CCBC Dundalk: Room K-221-B Thursdays at 2:00 pm

Question: How do I get information on clubs or organizations? When they meet?

  • CCBC Catonsville: Information on club and/or organization is available at the Office of Student Life J-Building
  • CCBC Essex: Active clubs/organizations information is available in the Student Life Office, B-116
  • CCBC Dundalk:Information concerning clubs is available at the Student Life Office, K-221

Question: How can I use the gym, pool or weight room?

  • CCBC Catonsville: Information is available in the PDC, L-building, lower level equipment room.
  • CCBC Essex: Information is available in the Physical Education Center D-Building
  • CCBC Dundalk: Information concerning Fitness center, H-209 Building second floor

Question: How do I get a refund from the vending machines on campus?

  • CCBC Catonsville: Students fill out a refund slip which they obtain from the cashier in dinning services, K-building
  • CCBC Essex: A refund for lost money in any vending machine on campus can be obtained from the cashier in dining services, B-building, second floor.
  • CCBC Dundalk:Refunds from vending machines are obtained by the cafeteria attendant in the K-building, room K-102.

Question: Is there a U.S. postal mailbox on campus?

  • CCBC Catonsville: In front of the A-building at the entrance of the parking lot.
  • CCBC Essex: Between the L building and the J building.
  • CCBC Dundalk: Yes, it is located on the side of the A-building where the shuttle stops.

STUDENT LIFE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS:

Question: How do I get involved in co-curricular activities?

  • CCBC Catonsville: Stop by the Office of Student Life in J building, room J-100.
  • CCBC Essex: Stop by the Office of Student Life in the B-building room B-116.
  • CCBC Dundalk: Stop by the Office of Student Life in the K-building, room K-221.

Question: Is there a minimum GPA requirement to either be involved in or hold a leadership position in Student Life?

Students who hold a leadership position within a club/organization are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and a minimum 2.0 GPA in the prior semester if applicable. The Executive Officers of the Student Government Association (SGA) are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3 and a 2.3 in the prior semester if applicable. Students who do not maintain these standards will be removed from their leadership positions but are encouraged to continue participating in Student Life.

Question: Who do I call to see if the college is closed? What is CCBC alert?

Departments are located throughout the campus and you can find them by going to the CCBC home page and typing in the department you are looking for in people search.

  • CCBC Catonsville: The library is located in the F-building
  • CCBC Essex: The Library is located in the P-building

Question: What is an instructor’s email address?

The instructor’s email address will be listed on the first page of the syllabus.

Question: How do I get a transcript of my grades?

You can print out an unofficial transcript of your grades from your Simon account.

  • CCBC Catonsville: For an official transcript of your grades, go to Records and Registration located in the K-building, room K-206
  • CCBC Essex: For an official transcript of your grades, go to Records and Registration located in the A-building, room A-150

Question: Do I have to pay for the rights for a film if I am not charging a fee to see the film?

Yes. You must pay for the rights for a film for any showing that is open to the public despite the cost.

Question: I'm showing a film for a class only? Do I still have to buy the rights to the film?

No, you do not have to buy the rights to a film if the film is shown specifically as part of the course curriculum and only the students who are enrolled in that class view the film.

Question: I would like to show a film for a program for my club/organization. What do I do to buy the rights to a film?

Contact Swank Motion Pictures at www.swank.com or at Criterion Pictures www.criterionpic.com. You can search for the film(s) on their website. If they carry the film, you can choose to have it mailed to you in addition to buying the rights to show the film. You can also rent the movie on your own and just pay for the film rights. The company will send you the bill for the film(s) in the mail. The main number is 1-800-876-3344. The Maryland representative will also help you with the process of ordering the film. Please contact the Student Life Office on your campus if you need assistance with the process.
