September 2012

Dear Alumni:

As a CCBC alumnus you are an important part of the Community College of Baltimore County family. You have first-hand knowledge of what it means to be a community college student and how the cost of education poses a significant obstacle to realizing academic goals. Your CCBC experience has helped to fulfill your educational dreams and now provides you with the leadership skills to help others to move toward similar opportunities.

Unfortunately, the cost of education continues to rise, presenting a challenge for many of our students today. In 2011, the CCBC Foundation awarded $515,189 in scholarship support to 1,130 students and subsidized 42 programs. The Annual Giving Campaign provides an opportunity for alumni to offer financial support for student scholarships, faculty and staff development and other programmatic needs. The generosity of individuals like you and many others enables CCBC to transform the lives of hundreds of students each and every day.

Last year, alumni contributed more than $91,000 in charitable contributions to support student scholarships and other program initiatives. This year our goal is to raise $118,800 from 550 alumni (or more!). We need your support to make this happen!

By supporting the Annual Giving Campaign, you are giving others the opportunity to afford an education. An annual gift levels the playing field by providing emergency financial aid, a costly textbook, travel to an internship. Through your gift, you are providing immediate assistance now, this semester. When you give to the Annual Giving Campaign, you can rest assured that your dollars are stretched as far as they will go, working for the students in immediate practical ways.

We are all CCBC! The power of one, built on the strength of three campuses – Catonsville, Dundalk and Essex. Let’s demonstrate our power as alumni by pulling together to make a difference in raising the necessary funds to support students and increase alumni participation – we are 60,000 alumni strong. Help make a difference today!

Sincerely,

Ann-Marie Thornton
Director of Development and Alumni Relations

P.S. If you donate $50 or more you can become a winner (in another way). Your name will be entered in a drawing for an Apple IPAD!
