About the Program
The purpose of the Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification, which the CCBC Network Technology Microsoft option is based on, is to prepare the student to work as an entry-level network technician, network administrator, and/or network engineer. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to install, configure, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot a Microsoft-based local area network and related services. Using leading-edge technology, students will 1). Learn the theory and principles of data communications, and 2). Perform hands-on exercises in which they will install workstation and server operating systems; configure network communication protocols (e.g. TCP/IP); install network services (e.g., DHCP, DNS, Active directory); setup user and group accounts; implement security (e.g., firewall and router configurations); implement fault tolerant disk systems; enable Internet connectivity; optimize system performance; and, most importantly, troubleshoot common networking problems.
