Institute for Cyber Security: About

Vision

The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) Institute for Cyber Security (ICS) will be a national community college leader in cybersecurity education, curriculum development, faculty training, and national collegiate cyber exercise design and delivery. The Institute will also foster and create opportunities for interdisciplinary activities, continue to develop and support both credit and continuing education academic programs, facilitate efforts to obtain extramural funding, and serve as a link between the academic and professional communities.

For more information, contact Casey W. O'Brien, Director, ICS.

Goals

  1. Improve the cyber security posture of the Institute so its constituents can fully benefit from the ongoing cyber revolution
  2. Build relationships and enter partnerships with other institutions of higher education, government organizations, and the business community to facilitate solutions to the growing need for a qualified cybersecurity workforce
  3. Secure alternative funding sources to support the Institute
  4. Provide support for the design and scheduling of instructional programs/courses in cyber security and related fields
  5. Collaborate closely with staff and faculty throughout the college
  6. Provide the necessary resources and motivation to enable community college students to become effective professionals in the ever-increasing cyber-enabled economy
  7. Leverage current activities and resources among existing funded projects (e.g., CyberWatch) in support of the Institute’s mission
