Admissions
NOTE: Applicants who are accepting a seat into the Practical or Registered Nursing programs are required to pay a non-refundable $200 seat fee in order to accept their offer of admission and reserve their space in the program. The fee will be applied to the student account after the first several weeks of class. Students who accept the seat and then do not attend the program will not be eligible for a refund of the fee. The seat fee may become effective for all other SHP programs for students admitted in 2012.
You may only apply to one Nursing program per start/semester. We will only process one Nursing application. The application fee is not refundable. You may NOT apply to both RN and LPN or RN and ATM at the same time. You may not apply to both Essex and Catonsville RN programs at the same time.
The Admission Process
-
Apply for admission to CCBC.
-
Participate in assessment testing, if necessary.
-
See a case manager to plan a course of study to prepare for admission.
-
Complete any developmental courses as required by assessment testing results.
-
Enroll in prerequisite and general education courses.
-
Complete all prerequisites and as many general education and program requirements as possible. The minimum acceptable overall CCBC GPA is 2.00. The minimum acceptable GPA on the prerequisites, general education courses, and program requirements is 2.50.
-
Participate in pre-admission testing, the Test of Essential Academic Skills. Applicants must complete the TEAS prior to their application deadline.
-
Apply for admission to the nursing program of choice. Log into your SIMON account. Select the student services tab and then admissions. You may apply to the SHP nursing program of your choice. The $20 application fee is due at time of submission.
-
Submit all other paperwork, including AP scores, CLEP scores, external transcripts, patient contact documentation forms, and copies of licenses and certificates, to the School of Health Professions Admissions Office, by the application deadline.
-
Admissions decisions are generally made within 6 weeks of the application deadline and status letters will be mailed to all applicants at that time.
-
All nursing program acceptances are provisional, contingent upon successful completion of a dosage course, CPR certification at the healthcare provider level, submission of proof of current health insurance, and completion of a physical examination form that includes serum titers or vaccinations for communicable diseases.
-
If the applicant is not accepted, he or she may submit a new application for the next application cycle. Applications are not automatically rolled over to the next semester. However, retaking the TEAS is not required; this is left to the discretion of the applicant. Application folders are retained for one year and any paperwork in the applicant folder will not have to be resubmitted during that time frame.
