FACILITIES MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL

CONTINUING EDUCATION CERTIFICATE
Gain hands-on instruction in electricity, plumbing and carpentry specifically designed for the building maintenance industry. Emphasis will be placed on safety and math in each of the three areas. Those interested in this area should be physically able to stand, reach, stoop as well as carry tools and supplies.

VOA 680
Carpentry for Building Maintenance
Study carpentry as it applies to the building maintenance profession. Topics include, safety, math, tools and equipment, floors, walls, sheetrock installation and repair, and tile installation. This class is associated with Plumbing for Building Maintenance, and Electricity for Building Maintenance and can be taken independently or as part of the associated group.

Plumbing for Building Maintenance
Learn about repairs to existing plumbing systems in a building. Designed for a building maintenance technician, topics will include plumbing safety, the use of plumbing tools, water supply system, drainage system, and
venting.

FACILITY MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL (FMP) credential

CCBC has partnered with the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Chesapeake Chapter to offer courses leading to the Facility Management Professional (FMP) credential. To earn the credential, the following courses must be successfully completed in any order:

• Operations and Maintenance for the FMP (VOA 976 )
• Project Management for the FMP (VOA 977)
• Finance and Business Essentials for the FMP (VOA 978)
• Leadership and Strategy Essentials for the FMP (VOA 979)
