Anthropology ANTH 101 – 3 Credits Introduction to Cultural Anthropology Provides exposure to the comparative study of human cultures; examines cultural diversity and the concepts and methods anthropologists use to study culture. NOTE: Courses offered every fall and spring semester. Prerequisites: ENGL 052 or ESOL 052 and RDNG 052 or ESOL 054; or ACLT 052 ANTH 102 – 3 Credits Introduction to Physical Anthropology Explains the origins and development of humans including genetics, physical evolution and cultural development, examines fossil and archeological evidence with emphasis on anthropological methods and interpretation. Prerequisites: ENGL 052 or ESOL 052, RDNG 052 or ESOL 054; or ACLT 052 ANTH 103 – 3 Credits Introduction to Archaeology Provides an introduction to the techniques of archaeological investigation and analysis. Course work examines the principles of archaeological theory and the reconstruction of social systems of the past. Students gain experience in archaeological investigation, site identification, field excavation, artifact dating, and laboratory analysis. NOTE: Course offered once a year (fall or spring). Prerequisites: RDNG 052 or ESOL 054, ENGL 052 or ESOL 052; or ACLT 052 ANTH 201 – 3 Credits Globalization in Cross Cultural Perspective Explores the cultural, political and economic effects of globalization. Introduces students to anthropological theories of globalization and a global perspective on issues such as environmental sustainability, health, poverty, and warfare. This course uses international media to explore the effects of globalization on traditional societies. NOTE: Course offered once a year (fall or spring). Prerequisites: ANTH 101 or SOCL 101
