Registration Instructions
You must take the TEAS as part of the application process. The score you receive on the test will be considered as part of the selective admissions process. If you do not participate in the TEAS, your application will not be evaluated.

WHAT IS THE TEAS TEST?

The test is called the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). This test contains four sections: Reading, English, Math, and Science.
WHO SHOULD REGISTER FOR THE TEAS TEST?

All students who apply for admission to the Registered Nursing Program, the Practical Nursing Program, Online Nursing, the Paramedic to RN Bridge Program, the Associate to Master’s Program (ATM) and the Dental Hygiene Program at CCBC will be required to participate in pre-admission testing.
WHEN SHOULD I TAKE THE TEAS TEST?

Students must register for and take the TEAS test PRIOR to the application deadline. Tests taken after the application deadline will not be used for the current admissions cycle.Tests rescheduled by CCBC due to weather cancellation will be considered even if the reschedueld date is after the admissions deadline.
HOW LONG DOES THE TEST TAKE AND WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?

You will need to schedule at least four hours to take the test. You must arrive ½ hour prior to the start of the test; and you must have your ATI number. Calculators are not allowed. The tests will start promptly at the scheduled times. Late arrivals will not be able to test.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE TEST?

You will need two #2 pencils, your ATI testing ID number, and a valid photo ID. Calculators and cell phones are prohibited while testing.
HOW MUCH DOES THE TEST COST?

Students are required to prepay and pre-register for the TEAS test. The cost is $40.00. Payment is accepted using major credit cards. Students are required to pay the testing fee at the time the test date is scheduled.
I WANT TO STUDY FIRST. IS THERE A STUDY GUIDE?

A study guide for this exam is available at the CCBC campus bookstores or at the ATI web site www.atitesting.com. The study guide is the ATI Test of Essential Skills Study Manual. The price is approximately $40.00. This fee is NON REFUNDABLE.
I AM NOT GOOD IN MATH. WHAT CAN I DO?

For applicants who feel they would benefit from a review of Math Skills please consider coming to the Student Success Center located on all three campuses for an interactive video course called ModuMath. This course is free and reviews concepts in Mathematics: Numbers, Rational Numbers, Algebra, Ratios and Proportions, Measurement, Graphs and Diagrams at your own pace and on your own schedule. This software is divided into two main parts - Basic Math and Algebra. Please contact the Student Success Center at:

I DIDN’T DO SO WELL ON THE TEST. CAN I TAKE IT AGAIN?

If you take the test once and feel you could improve your score, you may retake the test only once. Applicants are not permitted to take the TEAS more than twice in any admission cycle. You are required to pay for the test each time you take the test.

Reasonable accommodations on this test are available for students with documented disabilities. Prior to scheduling your appointment to take the TEAS, you should submit a copy of the accommodation letter written by a disability support services counselor at CCBC or the college you have previously attended to:

WHERE DO I FIND MY SCORES?

Test scores should be available online at www.atitesting.com within one week of taking the test. You must log in to the site to obtain your test scores. If you cannot remember your username/password or if you do not see your test scores, you must contact ATI at the phone number listed on their web site.
WHAT IS A PASSING SCORE?

The TEAS Exam is not a pass or fail test. There are recommended or required minimum scores that are used to admit students.

Composite/Overall score: 70%
WILL YOU PICK AND CHOOSE THE BEST SCROES FROM ALL THE TEAS TESTS I HAVE EVER TAKEN?

The sub-test scores associated with the highest composite/overall score are the ones that are used. At no time will scores from diffeent tests be combined to produce a single TEAS score.
SHOULD I RETAKE THE TEAS TEST EACH TIME I APPLY?

Starting Fall 2010, TEAS scores will be valid for just two years. If the TEAS exam was taken more than two years before the application deadline, then you will need to re-test. If your scores on the TEAS exam do not meet the recommended or required minimums, then we strongly encourage you to re-test.
The School of Health Professions strictly enforces its Honor Code during testing: “I will neither give nor receive unauthorized aid on this assignment/examination and that I will report all violations I observe.” Any breach of this code will result in the exam being confiscated by the proctor and the tester being asked to leave. Students who are confirmed to have cheated on the TEAS exam will be permanently deferred from admission into any program in the School of Health Professions.
HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE TEAS?

You must visit www.atitesting.com/ccbc to purchase and register for the TEAS test. Select Maryland, Baltimore, CCBC then click NEXT. Major credit cards are accepted for payment. Payment is not refundable. Testing Dates will close 24 hours prior to the date listed or once all seats are filled.

If the college is closed or opening late due to inclement weather, the TEAS Test will be cancelled. Please call back to reschedule your test date. There are no additional fees to reschedule for a test cancelled by CCBC due to inclement weather.
