Dundalk High School CRJ Interns present:
Halloween
Safety Tips
Throughout this academic year, the CCBC School of Justice and Department
of Public Safety are sponsoring four Criminal Justice interns from
Dundalk High School. While participating in this educational partnership
program, the interns will assist in Public Safety patrol, dispatch,
access control and crime prevention activities. These young men and
women will also attend and participate in various CJ lectures, training
and career exploration, as well as participate in field trips to the
Courts, Police Academy, other CCBC campuses and much more.
Please extend a warm welcome to Corina, Eric, Sophia, and Stephanie as
they work on the Dundalk campus 7:45 - 10:45 a.m. several days a week.
The interns have worked on a project to research and publish safety and
security advice to help keep our community aware and safe. They are
proud to present the following Halloween Safety Tips for your
information:

Parents

Homeowners
-
Make sure your yard is clear of such things as ladders, hoses, dog
leashes and flower pots that can trip the young ones
-
Pets get frightened on Halloween. Put them up to protect them from
cars or inadvertently biting a trick-or treater
-
Battery powered jack o'lantern candles are preferable to real flames
-
If you use candles, place the pumpkin well away from where
trick-or-treaters will be walking or standing
-
Make sure paper or cloth yard decorations won't be blown into a
flaming candle
-
Healthy food alternatives for trick-or treaters include: packages of
low-fat crackers with cheese, single-serve boxes of cereal, packaged
fruit rolls, mini boxes of raisins and single-serve packets of low-fat
microwave popcorn
-
Non-food treats: plastic rings, pencils, stickers, erasers, coins
