CCBC EVENTS FOR MAY AND JUNE 2014

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (April 11, 2014) – The Community College of Baltimore County is hosting events and programs for almost every age and taste through July 2014. Music and theatre events abound. Children’s Playhouse of Maryland presents a young adults’ production of “A Chorus Line” while Senior Star Showcase will wow you with its “The Last Hurrah.” The annual concerts by the CCBC Dance Company, CCBC Chamber Singers, Jazz Plus, Powerhouse Jazz and Electric Guitar Ensemble are back and better than ever. Another annual tradition, the spring Health Fair put on by the CCBC Catonsville Student Nurses Association will be held May 6 pm the Catonsville campus.

Prospective students (parents, spouses, friends) should register to attend “Discover CCBC” information sessions offered on all of its campuses or sign up for a Thursday Tour of one of our three main campuses offered at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. every Thursday that the college is open. This choral ensemble, under the direction of Monica Otal, will present classical and contemporary choral repertoire on their Spring Choral Concert, including Mozart’s Veni, Sancte Spiritus.

A CHORUS LINE

Children’s Playhouse of Maryland Young Adult Series

This stunning musical-vérité about a chorus audition for a Broadway musical tells of the achingly poignant ambitions of professional Broadway gypsies to land a job in the show. A powerful metaphor for all human aspiration, the classic musical includes the memorable numbers “I Can Do That,” “At the Ballet,” “What I Did for Love,” and “One (Singular Sensation).” Please note: A Chorus Line will be presented as written and contains adult situations and language.

You will meet the ladies and then find out how the scholar-actors who portray them researched the roles. This event is cosponsored by the School of Liberal Arts and Maryland Humanities Council.
