CCBC graduate Fawn Leipold receives Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship

Fawn Leipold

Baltimore, Md. – Fawn Leipold, a Parkville, Md. resident and graduate of the Community College of Baltimore County, is one of 30 from across the nation to receive a Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship. The scholarship provides up to $30,000 a year for up to three years to exceptional community college students. Leipold is one of two recipients in the Maryland area to receive this honor.

Leipold graduated from CCBC summa cum laude in May 2009 with a 3.88 grade point average. She was active on the Essex campus serving as president and/or officer in both Phi Theta Kappa and the Student Honors Council. She also received several awards including Outstanding Student Leader and an Outstanding Service Award. Her future plans include earning a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Baltimore.

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation awards scholarships to the nation’s best community college students so they can transfer to four-year colleges and universities and complete their bachelor’s degree. The Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program is the most generous and competitive program of its kind. The scholarship is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses, including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees for the final 2-3 years needed to achieve a bachelor’s degree.
