Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr. comes to
Cockpit in Court’s Court Jesters Young Peoples Theatre
July 10 – 19, J Building Lecture Hall, CCBC Essex. All seats $8.
Baltimore County, Md. – Walt Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr. offers young audiences, and the young at heart, a glimpse at a magical world where true love can transform a beast into a handsome prince. Cockpit in Court’s Court Jesters Young Peoples Theatre performs this classic fairy tale July 10-19 in the J Building Lecture Hall at the Essex campus of the Community College of Baltimore County, 7201 Rossville Blvd. All seats are $8 and tickets are available through the CCBC Box Office (443-840-ARTS) and on site before each performance.
Set in provincial France, the plot focuses on the lasting results a chance encounter. Maurice (Matt White of Nottingham) is lost in the woods and must seek shelter in an old castle. The master of the castle is a horrible beast (Dan Hasty of Abingdon) that takes him captive. Maurice’s beautiful daughter Belle (Katie Seymour of Kingsville) must give up her freedom to save his life. Can the beauty tame this horrid beast and transform him back into a handsome prince?
Other key roles are: Gaston (Will Meister of Parkville), Lefou (Mathew Demetrides of Hamilton), Lumiere (Jamie Watson of Baltimore), Mrs. Potts (Katie Dickson of Nottingham), Cogsworth (Mike Delaney of Parkville), Chip (Zoe Hammel of Nottingham), Babette (Jenn Hook of Baltimore), Madame de la Grande Bouche (Emily Paige Lipka of Parkville), the Silly Girls (Carrianne Cicero of Street, Zoe Feldman of Baltimore, Nicole Smith of Lutherville and Jillian Wengler of Cockeysville) and Monsieur D’Arque (Alex Lucas of Lutherville). Amanda Dickson directs this production with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, based on the book by Linda Woolverton.
