City Paper readers vote 'Building a Monastery' by
CCBC’s Doug Mattingly 'Best Local Album'
Baltimore County, Md. – Doug Mattingly, an adjunct faculty
member at the Community College of Baltimore County, has had his second
CD, Building A Monastery, voted the "Best Local Album" in the
Readers Poll in the 2006 Best of Baltimore edition of the City Paper
. “I am honored to receive this public recognition of my work,” remarks
Mattingly, who hopes to release a third album by year's end. In 2002 he
released his first album, who are you. His albums are available
at www.dougmattingly.net.
Mattingly, who teaches on the Essex and Dundalk campuses of the
Community College of Baltimore County, has been a Music department
faculty member since 2000. He teaches Music Fundamentals, Popular Music
Theory and Musicianship, Music Appreciation, and also teaches private
guitar students. He is currently working with Bill Watson, coordinator
of CCBC’s nationally-accredited Music program to put together a proposal
for a course on songwriting.
“Doug is typical of the faculty in CCBC’s Music department –
professional artists – who share their passion and expertise in Music
with their students and the campus community,” notes Watson. “I am happy
to see his music get this well-deserved recognition.”
