CCBC is a title
sponsor for this year’s event
Baltimore County, Md. – Stroll down the red carpet in your
glittering Hollywood attire, stop to chat with fashion mavens, Russ
Lingner and Johnny Olszewski, Jr. (a la Joan and Melissa) and then find
a seat for the final round of Project Millennium, Inc. (PMI) “Dundalk
Idol 2006,” to be held at 8 p.m., Saturday, June 3 at Donna’s Tavern and
Restaurant, 6607 Pine Avenue. Tickets for the Red Carpet Final Round
must be purchased prior to 8 p.m., May 20 before the finalists are
announced. No tickets will be sold on the evening of the Red Carpet
Final Round.
Auditions for “Dundalk Idol 2006” will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, April
19 and Thursday, April 20. The Preliminary Round 1 is slated for 7 p.m.
Saturday, May 6 and Preliminary Round 2 at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 20. All
“Dundalk Idol 2006” events will be held at Donna’s Tavern and
Restaurant. While there is no fee for spectators at the auditions or
preliminary rounds, contestants must pay a $5 registration fee to
compete. The twenty selected competitors must also pay a $20
registration fee.
On June 3, the five finalists from the preliminary rounds will flaunt
the dazzling talents that advanced them past stiff competition to the
Red Carpet Final Round. Ticket holders will vote to select the Grand
Prize winner.
This year, The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) joins this
PMI initiative as a title sponsor. CCBC will award the final winner with
a choice of either voice or music lessons as well as the prestigious
“Idol” Trophy. CCBC give-a-ways will include: an IPod (door prize), CCBC
hats for contestants and “Dundalk Idol” memorabilia for all ticket
holders. “CCBC is delighted to be a title sponsor this wonderful Dundalk
community event,” remarks Sandra L. Kurtinitis, chancellor, The
Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC). “As part of the Dundalk
community, CCBC wants to show its support for PMI and community arts
initiatives.”
Donna’s Tavern and Restaurant, the host and a sponsor for the “Dundalk
Idol,” will award a $500 cash Grand Prize as well as an appearance for
the winner in the Dundalk 4th of July Parade. Other prizes include: a
recording session for one song demo from Invisible Sound Studios and a
Shure SM58 Microphone courtesy of Dundalk Music Center. All contestants
will receive “Dundalk Idol” T-shirts from Thunder Creek Apparel and
medals from Donna’s Tavern and Restaurant. The first and second
runners-up will win karaoke machines from Karaoke.com. “Without the
support of these sponsors, PMI could not undertake such a large event,”
notes Ken Rosier, PMI president.
“Dundalk Idol 2006” is brought to the community by Project Millennium,
Inc., a grass-roots organization dedicated to “Positive Programs for
Today’s Youth” and “Projects Dedicated to Showcasing Historic Dundalk.”
According to Carla Crisp, an organizer of this event, “The ‘Dundalk
Idol’ competition gives PMI fun-filled evening entertainment while
raising monies to help us restore the vitality of the Dundalk community
through our many and varied community arts events.”
