What this policy covers
This policy covers how CCBC treats
personal information that we collect when you register to receive e-mail
updates from the college. Personal information is information about you
that is personally identifiable -- like your name, address, e-mail
address or phone number -- and that is not otherwise publicly available.
This policy does not apply to the college’s maintenance of
personal academic records for enrolled students, a practice that is
separate from the collection of contact information for e-mail
communication and one that is stringently regulated by the
Federal Education Records Privacy Act (FERPA).
Information collection and use
CCBC collects personal
information when you register to receive e-mail updates, when you
inquire for more information and when you enter promotions or
sweepstakes. CCBC may combine information about you that we get from
these sources.
CCBC uses this information for the following general purposes: to
customize the e-mail communications you receive from CCBC, improve our
services, contact you, conduct research, and provide anonymous reporting
for internal purposes only.
Information sharing and disclosure
CCBC does not rent, sell,
or share personal information about you with other people or
organizations for their use. Ever.
CCBC may use your information for collaborative purposes with creative
communication agencies (for example, advertising agencies, mail houses,
etc.) that work for us, but in all such cases, we maintain proprietary
right to that information and they are not legally permitted to use it
or share it in any way outside the scope of the specific project for
which we have hired them.
Your ability to edit and delete your account information and
preferences
You can edit your CCBC e-mail program information at
any time. You can opt out of the CCBC e-mail program at any time by
clicking unsubscribe (at the bottom of any e-mail message from CCBC).
If you are a student or alumni with a CCBC e-mail account (
___@ccbcmd.edu), we reserve the right to send certain communications to
your ccbcmd.edu account without offering you the opportunity to opt out
of receiving them.
Confidentiality and security
We limit access to personal
information about you to college employees who we believe reasonably
need to come into contact with that data to provide information or
services to you or in order to do their jobs.
We have physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in place to
protect your personal information.
Changes to this privacy policy
CCBC may update this policy. We
will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal
information by sending a notice to the primary e-mail address that you
have specified.
