Change of Status Applications within the United States
If you have a non-immigrant visa and want to change to F-1 status (full-time student), you will be required to provide the following documents:

I-901 SEVIS Fee

Completed I-539

Check for $300 made payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Letter from student explaining why electing to change status

Photocopy of I-94 card and copy of spouse's I-94 if dependent on his/her visa status, if applicable

Copies of valid/current passport and visa pages and copies of passport & visa pages for spouse if dependent on spouse's visa status, if applicable

Copies of Affidavit of Support, bank statement, or other proof of sufficient funding and a Declaration of Financial Support Form confirming funds to cover academic and living expenses. Currently, the costs are $16,829 for a year of study.
