External Scholarships

Here is a sampling of just a few of the many scholarships funded by sources such as associations or other agencies. Click on the specific scholarship to obtain details about the criteria and application requirements. Be sure to apply if you think you are eligible for the scholarship.

The 'Transfer Scholarship Guide For Maryland Community College Students', developed by Maryland community colleges, is also a valuable source of scholarship information for community college students who plan to transfer to a four year college or certain other community colleges in Maryland. You can also find this guide in the Financial Aid office.

Rubin Scholarship Fund

$500.00 - $2,500.00 per year

3.0 GPA; female permanent resident of Maryland with demonstrated financial need; must have been out of high school for at least 12 months;
Application deadline is March 1 of each year.

HIAS Scholarship Program

$1,500.00

Refugees and asylees who were assisted by HIAS to come to the U.S. must have immigrated after January 1, 1992; must have completed one full year of study at any combination of U.S. high school, undergraduate or graduate college; applicants judged in academics, financial need and Jewish communal involvement
Application deadline is March 15 of each year

DE-DC-MD ASFAA, Inc. Scholarship

$1,000.00

2.5 GPA for undergraduates; 3.0 GPA for graduate or professional students; must have completed at least one year of his/her program of study; financial need required; must also submit an essay and letter of recommendation along with the scholarship application to the Financial Aid Director of student's current institution
Application deadline for 2010-11 is March 1, 2010

Dwight P. Jacobus Scholarship

$1,000.00

3.0 GPA; resident of Maryland or the District of Columbia for at least one year preceding the date of the award; full time business or education major with demonstrated financial need;
Application deadline is March 1 of each year

DC Tuition Assistance Program Varies

The College Access Act establishes a program that enables college-bound residents of the District of Columbia to have greater choices among institutions of higher education. The program will provide tuition assistance to eligible students who attend eligible institutions.

Application deadline is June 30 of each year.

Association of Information Technology

Professionals

Varies

2.0 GPA; resident of Maryland; AITP members receive additional consideration; 2-5 page essay illustrating the applicant's efforts in promoting, implementing & instructing Information Technology; copy of previous year's transcript; copy of class schedule for current or next academic period must be provided prior to distribution of scholarship monies;
