Greetings and welcome to the CCBC Emergency Medical Technology program home page. We are pleased that you are considering a career as an Emergency Medical Services professional and hope that you find the information contained in these pages helpful.
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides vital life-sustaining assessment and care to those who are experiencing a medical or traumatic emergency, and transports those persons to an appropriate medical facility were more definitive care can be rendered. The CCBC Emergency Medical Technology program educates and trains individuals in EMT Paramedic.
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course is a one-semester course of approximately 200 hours of combined classroom, laboratory, and field experience. The curriculum is designed based on the current Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for EMT.
The Paramedic program is two years of study with approximately 1500 hours of combined classroom, laboratory,hospital clinical, and field experience. The curriculum is based on the current Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for Paramedic. The CCBC EMT program no longer offers the EMT-Intermediate/99 curriculum.
