Self Discovery

Quick Links

Objective:

To explore your interests, skills, values and personality through career inventories and self-assessments.

Self-Discovery is the first step towards choosing your career. Assessments are the tools that can help you to create your unique personal profile.

Strategies:

1) Gather information about yourself through the use of formal and informal assessments that will include strengths and interests inventories and personality assessments.

Informal assessments can be done by talking with family members, friends, co-workers and teachers. Ask them to describe qualities and characteristics they see in you.

Formal assessments can be completed in the Career Center and online, using some of the links below. The Myers-Briggs, the Self-Directed Search and e-Discover are all assessments that are available for free in the Career Center, by appointment only.

2) As you complete these assessments, try to identify up to 3 different jobs/careers that you would like to learn more about.
