Steven Kardian – Sexual Assault Prevention/Safety in Your

When the producers of Inside Edition wanted to do a segment on the realities of sexual assault prevention on America’s campuses, they turned to Steve, a New York police detective and a nationally recognized authority on the issue. The resulting segment captured national attention as Steven demonstrated how easily a strange man can be invited into a women’s vehicle on today’s campuses. Come out and gain valuable information on how to be safe in your surroundings. Free and open to all First Year CCBC Students.


Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
Off Campus: Harry & Jeanette Weinberg YMCA, 900 E. 33rd Street

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society’s premier event to raise awareness and dollars to fight breast cancer. More than just the name of a walk, it describes the amazing progress we’re making together to defeat this disease. Making Strides events is a noncompetitive walk ranging in distance from 3 to 5 miles. The event unites people of all ages with a common goal to fight breast cancer and save lives. Chances are, you’ve been affected by breast cancer in some way, and Making Strides gives you the power to fight back and make a difference. Join our CCBC First Year Experience team to help fight cancer.

Big Money – Educational game show on credit card debt
Catonsville: November 16, 2009
Time: 12:20pm
Location: K 100

This informative and interaction program focuses on the importance of students actively managing their finances. Students from across the country have been interviewed and asked basic questions. It is your job, as the contestant, to guess whether they are right or wrong. If you know the right answers you could walk away with cash or prizes. It’s that easy! Come out and learn how to be more financially savy and possibly walk about with some cash in your pockets.

Online Safety – Are you Safe?

Do you have an account on any of the following: facebook, twitter, myspace, friendster? If so, do you know about your privacy rights and how to be safe online? This interactive program will help you see how online communities and sites can affect your life as a student in both positive and sometimes negative way. Fast fact: Did you know that Facebook is adding about 150,000 users a day.
