2010 CCBC College Catalog
General Studies
Associate of Arts (A.A. )
General Studies offers maximum flexibility for students who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree upon graduation from CCBC or for whom a general studies degree best meets their academic goals. This program is especially appealing to students who wish to design their own course of study or who have accumulated a significant number of credits from other programs or colleges. Students acquire well-rounded skills to pursue a variety of academic disciplines and careers. They also expand their understanding of the ability to function within the diversity of our contemporary world.
*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101 course, Transitioning to College, goes into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college in the spring 2010 semester (meaning you have not previously successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC. PLEASE NOTE: If you are new to college and completed one or more credit courses successfully at CCBC in the fall 2009 semester, you are ENCOURAGED but NOT REQUIRED to take ACDV 101 in the spring 2010 semester.
Program Description:
The General Studies degree curriculum is designed for students who plan to pursue an Associate of Arts degree before transferring to a four-year college and/or university. Students who choose this option are encouraged to work with an academic advisor or counselor on their home campus to develop a plan for completing the degree. The advisor or counselor will also help the student identify electives to best meet the specific requirements of transfer institutions.
