CCBC CATONSVILLE MEN’S SOCCER HONORS SOPHOMORES

Prior to the start of the final home game on October 18, 2012, the CCBC Catonsville Men’s Soccer team honored three sophomores – midfielders Rony Guerra and Caleb Lynch and goalkeeper Anthony Grace - for their contributions to the program. We wish all three student athletes the best in the future.

Catonsville lost their final home game to Frederick by a 3-2 score in overtime. Eric Johnson and Adam Byrnes scored for Catonsville. Tyler Farrell assisted on both goals.

CCBC Catonsville thanks the coaches, student athletes, staff, family and friends for their support during the 2012 season.

CCBC CATONSVILLE DEFEATS PRINCE GEORGE'S 1-0

CCBC Catonsville scored the lone goal early in the first half andheld on to beat Prince George's 1-0 in a home match on Sunday, September 30, 2012.
In the 3rd minute, Adam Byrnes crossed the ball from the right side. The ball went through the Prince George's defense and Rony Guerra put the cross in the back of the net at the far post.
Anthony Grace recorded his second shutout of the season, both at home.
CCBC Catonsville returns to their home field on Saturday, October 5, 2012 versus CCBC Essex.

CCBC CATONSVILLE LOSES 3-1 TO HAGERSTOWN IN MD JUCO CONTEST

CCBC Catonsville lost to Hagerstown 3-1 in MD JUCO play at Catonsville on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.
Hagerstown scored the only goal of the first half as Osman Ramizov scored unassisted in the 20th minute. Hagerstown increased their lead to 2-0 on an unassisted goal by Bobby Matusek in the 17th minute of the second half.
Adam Byrnes scored the lone Catonsville goal of the evening in the 33rd minute on an assist from Tyler Farrell. Hagerstown received an insurance goal from Brandon Redman, assisted by Jazer Mauricio in the 41st minute to close out the scoring.
CCBC Catonsville returns to newly dedicated Joseph and Mildred Murray Stadium Field at Catonsville on Sunday, September 30, 2012 versus Prince Georges. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 Noon.

CCBC CATONSVILLE LOSES TO ASA 4-1

CCBC Catonsville lost at home to ASA (NY) by a 4-1 count on Sunday, September 23, 2012.
ASA scored the lone goal of the first half on a goal by Jose Herrera (assisted by Jonathan Garcia) at the 8 minute mark.
ASA increased their lead to 2-0 on a penalty kick by Garcia early in the second half. Justin Stapleton gave ASA a 3-0 lead on a goal in the 22nd minute of the half, assisted by Frank Praudel. Jhonatan Peraza scored Catonsville’s only goal in the 31st minute of the half, assisted by Cedrick Glasgow. Herrera scored his second goal of the game in the 37th minute (assisted by Angel Martinez) to close out the scoring.
CCBC Catonsville returns to the field on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 7:30 versus Hagerstown in an MD JUCO matchup.

CCBC CATONSVILLE DEFEATS CECIL 5-0

In their most impressive win of the year, CCCB Catonsville defeated Cecil 5-0 at Catonsville on Friday, September 21, 2012. Eric Johnson and Cody Abbott led the Catonsville scoring with two goals each.

Johnson opened the scoring in the 5th minute on an assist from Jhonatan Peraza. Just over 10 minutes later, Abbott scored an unassisted goal to increase the Catonsville lead to 2-0. Johnson scored his second goal in the 32nd minute (from Bat-Erdene Adiya). Abbott closed out the first half scoring with a goal in the 43rd minute, assisted by John Paul Ibe, giving Catonsville a 4-0 lead.

In the second half, Taiwo Raji scored on an assist from Kehinde Raji in the 11th minute.

Goalkeeper Anthony Grace led the Catonsville defense in the shutout win.

CCBC Catonsville returns to the field on Sunday, September 23, 2012 versus ASA.

MEN’S SOCCER PLAYS NORTHERN VIRGINIA TO 1-1 TIE

CCBC Catonsville’s men’s soccer team played NOVA (Northern Virginia) to a 1-1 tie on Monday, September 17th at Catonsville. The tie brings Catonsville’s record to 1-5-1.

NOVA scored first on a goal by Abdu Boudisa in the 28th minute. Catonsville tied the game late in the first half when Cedrick Glasgow knocked a long crossing pass into a nearly open net.

Neither team scored in the second half or the two overtime periods. Both teams had numerous chances, with Catonsville goalie Anthony Grace stopping two NOVA penalty kicks and Tyler Farrell hitting the cross bar on a penalty kick for Catonsville.

CCBC Catonsville returns to their home field on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 7:30 versus Cecil College. They also play ASA at home on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Noon.

  • Adam Byrnes was named to the 2012 NJCAA Division I All-Region XX Men's Soccer second team.
