Tuesday, November 10, 2009 vs Chesapeake W 66-65
|
CJ Brown's three-point jumper as the clock ran out gave CCBC Catonsville a 66-65 win over Chesapeake College. In their second game of the season, the Cardinals showed their youth despite jumping out to a 10-1 lead. Following the quick start, the Cardinals posted numerous turnovers and battled a hot shooting Chesapeake team. Trailing at the half by a score of 31-27, the Cardinals again came out with a burst to begin the second-half. Grabbing a six point advantage, the Cardinals quickly surrendered the lead back to Chesapeake. Trailing by two with less than seven seconds remaining, the Cardinals got a needed stop on the defensive end. Justin Hawkins grabbed a defensive rebound and made a strong outlet pass to Brandon Griffin. Griffin raced up the floor and found CJ Brown on the left wing. With the time-clock expiring, Brown let go an in rhythm three-point shot. With the horn sounding as the ball was in the air, the ball traveled towards the basket and found nothing but the bottom of the net. CARDINALS WIN AT THE BUZZER! Brown led the Cardinals in scoring with 13 points. Brandon Carroll added 12. Justin Hawkins and Jonathan Steele netted 11. Brown led the Cardinals with seven boards and Steele chipped in with six off the glass. Carroll led the Cardinals in assists with six followed by Freddie Sellers with four. Aziz Iscandari and Damion Faucette were crucial on both ends of the floor in securing the win
