Barbara L. Miller
CCBC Essex * Volleyball, Basketball * 1973-1975, 1985-1999
A graduate of Perry Hall High School in Baltimore, Maryland, Barbara L. Miller was an outstanding outside hitter in volleyball and forward in basketball from 1973-1975. On the volleyball court, Barb’s teams advanced to the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championships both seasons, where she would be named to the 1975 NJCAA All-National Tournament team.
A captain for both teams, she was a defensive standout and a top rebounder en route to CCBC Essex’s first Maryland JUCO Conference Women’s Basketball title ever during the 1973-1974 campaign. Barb was the first-ever athletic scholarship recipient at CCBC Essex and the 1974-1975 CCBC Essex Female Athlete of the Year. She returned to CCBC Essex to serve as the head volleyball coach for 14 seasons (1985-1999) and assistant women's basketball coach for 10 seasons (1985-1995). Her 1991 CCBC Essex Volleyball team finished as the NJCAA Region XX runner-up.
Barb served as president of the NJCAA Region XX Volleyball Coaches Association from 1991-1994. She has earned an Associate of Arts degree from CCBC (1975), Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland (1977), and Master of Advanced Studies degree from Johns Hopkins University (1983). She currently works as the director of Financial Aid for Stevenson University in Stevenson, Maryland, and recently served as president of the Eastern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (EASFAA).
Barb resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
