Online Admissions Process For Dental Hygiene


We appreciate your interest in the Dental Hygiene program at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) Dundalk Campus and want to make certain that you are successful.

The Dental Hygiene program is a selective admissions program. Although the Community College of Baltimore County has an open door policy for general admission, enrollment in the School of Health Professions programs is competitive.


Open and review the Dental Hygiene Admission Packet to get a better understanding of the admission requirements for the Dental Hygiene program. You can find copies of forms and a list of information session dates there as well.

STEP 1 - Review the Pre-Application Checklist

To make certain that your application can be FULLY considered for the program, please review the following Pre-Application Checklist BEFORE COMPLETING AN APPLICATION to the Dental Hygiene program at CCBC

Have you reviewed the admissions criteria for the Dental Hygiene program? Prerequisite information can be found at the bottom of this page and within the admission packet.



If you have completed coursework at CCBC, is your CCBC GPA at least a 2.0?*      


Will you have completed the following courses with a “C” or better by the April 15th application deadline?

a. BIOL 230
b. BIOL 109 (or both BIOL 220 & 221)
c. CHEM 107
d. ENGL 101
e. PSYC 101



Do you have an overall GPA of 2.5 or greater for the above coursework?*      


Were the three science courses listed in #4 completed within the last 5 years ?      


Have you taken the TEAS Exam and achieved atleast the minimum score of 70% (applicable for the TEAS V only)?Register here.



Will you attend one of the mandatory Dental Hygiene information sessions prior to the application deadline of April 15th?      


Will you submit (as one packet) the following to the School of Health Professions Admission Office by the April 15th deadline?

a. Three reference forms
b. The 16 hours of dental hygiene observation of a Registered Dental Hygienist form
c. The Technical Standards form

STEP 2 - Calculate your score for the Pre-Admissions Checklist

Give yourself “1” point for each YES answer. If your pre-admissions checklist score is 6 or greater – CONGRATULATIONS!
You are eligible to apply to the Dental Hygiene program.

If your pre-admissions checklist score is less than 6, you may wish to contact the Dental Hygiene Case Manager: Mr. Charlie Martino at 443-840-1037 or for additional assistance.

STEP 3 - Apply to the School of Health Professions

Are you a current or former CCBC student? – Go directly to SIMON and apply to the Dental Hygiene Program under the Student Services Tab.
NOTE: There is a $20 application fee to complete the application. Applying online requires paying the application fee before the application can be submitted. CCBC accepts VISA and MASTERCARD for the payment.

Once admitted to the College, you will be able to log in to SIMON to complete the School of Health Professions Admissions process.

STEP 4 - Submit official transcripts

Official transcripts from all previous colleges attended, including CLEP scores, AP scores and international evaluations need to be submitted to CCBC. You do not need to submit a CCBC transcript. All documentation should be submitted to the School of Health Professions Admissions Office, J101 on the Essex Campus.

STEP 5 - Check the status of your application

You can check the status of your application online by logging into your SIMON account.


The Dental Hygiene program admits a limited number of students each year. The academic credentials of the most competitve candidates include completion of BIOL 230, CHEM 107, ENGL 101, PSYC 101 and BIOL 109 (or BOTH BIOL 220 & 221; sciences must have been completed within the last 5 years) with a grade of "C" or better and a 2.50 GPA, submission of three (3) reference forms, the dental hygenist observation form documenting atleast 16 hours, the technical standards form, attendance of a Dental Hygiene information session and completion of the TEAS Exam with minimum scores met. Students should complete these courses and turn in all required forms by the April 15th deadline. The competitiveness of admissions depends on the pool of applicants.
