Apply for Health Professions Programs

You may apply online or in person at any CCBC campus or extension center.

After you submit your application, follow these additional steps to complete the process.

Health Professions advisors assist with assessment testing, course selection of prerequisite and general education courses. Advisors can also help with course registration and developing a plan to get ready to apply to a SHP program. Appointments with Health Professions advisors may be made by calling 443.840.2222 and ask to be connected to Academic Advising, or stop into one of the locations on campus.

Enroll in and complete the appropriate prerequisite and general education courses needed for your selected program. Be sure to review your program's admission packet, found on the program's webpage.

If you are applying to the Dental Hygiene program, the Radiography program, or any of the Nursing programs, you will need to participate in pre-admission testing as well. The test is called the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS) and is a multiple-choice assessment of basic academic knowledge in reading, mathematics, science, English and language usage. The score you receive on the test is a required part of the selective admissions process.

Testing Requirements

Testing requirements have recently changed for the TEAS exam. All TEAS exams must be taken in person - either “Proctored by an Institution” or “Proctored by PSI.” After the dates listed below, we will be unable to accept exams that were taken online.

• Nursing (RN, LPN, LPN-RN): Test results dated after March 15, 2025, must be completed in person.
• Radiography and Dental Hygiene: Test results dated after April 15, 2025, must be completed in person.

Score Validity

Your TEAS scores are valid for two years from the test date. If you took the exam online before the the dates listed above, your results are still valid for two years from the test date.

Testing locations

The TEAS exam is available at these approved locations found on the ATI website

• Educational institutions (On-Campus)
• CCBC Testing Centers (On-Campus)
• PSI Testing Centers (On-Site)

When registering, select either the On-Campus or On-Site option. To register, schedule, and submit payment for the TEAS exam, visit the ATI Testing website: atitesting.com.

No matter where you take the TEAS exam you should ask that the score be submitted to "CCBC TEAS."

For test preparation assistance, contact the Student Success Center at Catonsville (443.840.2750), Dundalk (443.840.3666), Essex (443.840.1820), or virtualtutor@ccbcmd.edu. Additional study materials are available at the CCBC Bookstore, through online vendors (ATI TEAS Study Guide), and on the ATI TEAS website.

The School of Health Professions uses the CCBC Central Application Service (CAS) for all programs except Dental Hygiene (For details on applying to Dental Hygiene, see the program admissions packet).

Please note: there is a non-refundable $50 fee for the SHP application process that is due when you submit your online application.

To login and apply:

• Complete steps 1-4 above.
• Go to the CCBC School of Health Professions Central Application Service. We recommend that you use Firefox or Chrome to access the service.
• Create an account.
• Choose your program(s).
• Complete your application(s).
• Be sure to enter a current and valid email address to the SHP CAS application. All correspondence concerning the SHP application will come electronically to the email address that you enter.
• You will need to verify your CCBC username and password in the “Supporting Information" section.

All documents and materials should be uploaded, entered or sent to the SHP CAS. Official copies of all external transcripts, College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) scores, AP scores, evaluations of international transcripts, credit-by-exam scores, should be submitted to the CCBC Registrar’s office by the application deadline for your program. See Step 6 for specific directions.

It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you upload or mail all documents to the SHP online application and submit them to the CCBC's Registrar's office as required.

1. Submit all required paperwork through the SHP CAS application portal.
2. ALL official transcripts must be sent to both the SHP CAS application and the CCBC Registrar's Office.
   1. You must submit an official transcript from every institution you have attended. If you have only attended CCBC, you must submit an official CCBC transcript to the SHP CAS. We strongly recommend sending in all official transcripts to the SHP CAS and to CCBC no fewer than six weeks before the admission deadline. If you already have your up-to-date transcripts from other institutions on file at CCBC, then you only need to send them to SHP CAS.
3. CCBC's Registrar still requires external official transcripts from any school for which you want a transfer of credit:

4. If you have an international transcript, it must be course-by-course evaluated by an agency such as AACRAO International Education Services or World Education Services. Submit the completed evaluation to CCBC Registrar’s Office.
5. 5. If you have completed any courses NOT taken at CCBC since the time of your application, you will need to provide those final grades to complete your application. Please send an official copy of the transcript to CCBC Registrar’s office.
6. If you would like to request an evaluation of transfer credit from previous institutions, agencies, or organizations, you must submit a Transfer Evaluation Request Form.

Application status updates are emailed to you using the address you entered in the application. Decision letters are generally mailed out approximately six to eight weeks after the application deadline.

You can also click on the Check Status button in the SHP CAS application to manage the application and to know if all documentation has been received.
