Theatre at CCBC presents Animal Farm
New adaptation of George Orwell classic takes the stage at CCBC Catonsville
Baltimore County, Md. – Theatre at CCBC presents a new adaptation of George Orwell’s classic novel Animal Farm. Adapted from the text by director William Hauserman, the production explores connections from the novel to contemporary issues and events.
Orwell’s commentary on the rise of Stalinism has remained one of the most influential novels in the English language, landing on Time magazine’s list of the 100 best English-Language Novels, and placing at number 31 on the Modern Library List of Best 20th-Century Novels. Hauserman’s adaptation recognizes, as he says, “to achieve certain promises of Utopia, the process of implementation may incur unexpected costs and consequences.”
Adapted for the stage and directed by William Hauserman, CCBC’s production also features set and lighting design by Hauserman, costumes by James J. Fasching and sound by local designer John Suchy.
